abstract = {Słonecznica orężówka (Helicoverpa armigera) to groźny szkodnik wielu roślin w rejonach swego występowania. Monitoring prowadzono w trzech miejscowościach: Krzeczowice, Głuchów i Nienadówka. The cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera) is a dangerous pest of many plants in the areas where it occurs. It can develop up to12 generations per year in a tropical climate. The insect is known for its long-distance moth’s flights. The larvae can feed on over300 species of cultivated and wild plants. One of the plants damaged is maize. Helicoverpa armigera is a species alien to the entomofauna of Poland. It is unable to overwinter in the soil and climatic conditions of the country. In the years 2010–2023, the appearance of males of this species in pheromone traps was observed every year in the south-eastern part of the country (podkarpackie voivodeship). Monitoring was carried out in three localities: Krzeczowice, Głuchów and Nienadówka. The largest number of moths were caught in 2015 and in 2018–2019. Moths in traps were observed from 10 July to 20 August. The most numerous imago flight took place at the end of July and at the beginning of August. In some years, larvae damaging cobs were also observed. The larvae fed on the cobs from the second half of July to the first half of September. In the study years, they damaged from 0.2 to 3.2% of cobs. Only one larva fed on each cob. It damaged cob silks, cobs leaves and soft grains. The loss of grains in cobs ranged from 1.7 to 7.5%. Fungi of the genus Fusarium developed on damaged cobs. Helicoverpa armigera should be included in the nationwide monitoring of its occurrence in Poland in the era of climate change.},
